The group's work with another student from Penninghen and two students from ISEP (higher institute of electronics in Paris).

The main idea was to create a functional chair, connected to heat sensors in order to control and reduce the time spent sitting.

Before creating this chair we did research and studies in different fields, such as ergonomics, back postures and diseases caused by bad postures and excess time spent sitting. We were able to question a physiotherapist, as well as go to a co-working workshop and question people (potential clients) about their working style, comfort while remaining seated, their time spent sitting, their back problems. . Then we studied the market looking for similar chairs, and we created the business plan (possible expenses and income, if the project went into production).

After our research, we defined a shape of the chair, which allows to have two different postures while sitting: the working posture (the seat and the backrest are slightly tilted forward - better for the back, to hold it straight and to remove back pressure), resting posture (seat and back are almost straight). Heat sensors are placed between the back and seat cushions to calculate the time the person spends sitting on them. ISEP students have also created an application for iPhone and Android that helps to control sitting posture and remind you when its time to get up and move.
